It widened a highway, majestic, stretching ever

sunshine;

And the hum of the yellow bees, honey-laden and dusty with pollen.

But on the far side is a city whose windows flame gold in the sunset.6 G6 u6 }. m- G2 H* I. H6 x$ }7 X
It lies fair and shining before him, a gem set betwixt sky and water,3 K/ c$ O* n: n$ ~. a6 Q' H
And spanning the river a bridge, frail promise to longing desire,4 w* X; F# e' Q! U- p; ^3 {! o2 @
Flung by man in his infinite courage, across the stern force of! i& q4 r& W# J# ? i# F, c) q& r
the water;
* A4 E& K/ U" k$ Q% s4 h' p And he looks at the river and fears, the bridge is so slight,
9 z) G/ S0 E( X k5 \ yet he ventures
. H$ V) x+ C6 y5 V" t His life to its fragile keeping, if it fails the waves will engulf
7 {8 X- F/ Q8 {# d- ?( u; R4 j$ ` him.
. u: W9 k+ D. O$ x; u$ \9 v. ? O Arches! be strong to uphold him, and bear him across to the city,
