　　His vision, from the constantly passing bars,
　　has grown so weary that it cannot hold
　　anything else. It seems to him there are
  u; d$ c- B+ _　　a thousand bars; and behind the bars, no world.
　　隔着不时掠过的铁栏，他的目光
　　已变得如此疲倦，再无法
+ a# \7 h* T1 a+ W% Y, b% c　　承受哪怕一眼。似乎面前
　　有千条栏杆;而栏杆之后别无他物。
　　As he paces in cramped circles, over and over,
　　the movement of his powerful soft strides
+ g  O/ Q" m7 g7 f8 T2 K　　is like a ritual dance around a center
( v- Y* Q' y! K1 @& O　　in which a mighty will stands paralyzed.
　　他强韧的脚步灵巧地回旋，
　　在狭小的空间踱步不止，
　　仿佛某种祭祀之舞围绕着一个中心，
) M* I2 z9 A8 e% Z; A, l　　在中心一个伟大的意志眩晕。
　　Only at times, the curtain of the pupils
3 V/ v+ Z: w9 G2 \5 h8 c　　lifts, quietly—. An image enters in,
- p& r& P# ]  T& k　　rushes down through the tensed, arrested muscles,
　　plunges into the heart and is gone.
7 i2 s& O; x( M- ~: [0 N　　只有时眼帘无声地撩起——
$ ^% @  e. m; I$ ?　　一幅图像从瞳孔浸入，
% ]  t2 I: [( F2 J　　穿过凝神僵立的躯体
( ?& s+ g# b- o! \+ `. {! c6 {! O　　投入心灵，又最终化为乌有。
